作者通过实际行动,证明了“A friend in need is a friend indeed. ”。
16. 选B。从之后的分句“but soon I met a group of new friends and they were  really nice”对比看,在此之前作者还没有朋友,所以是“孤独的”,lonely符合语境。
18. 选A。
I didn’t know how to help him because I di dn’t have any money either.
21. 选A。
. . didn’t have any money either”和“I never lost hope”可以知道尽管作者也没有足够的钱(帮助朋友),但他仍没有放弃希望,因而空白处需要使用表示“但是”含义的转折词,however符合要求。
26. 选A。 所以选A。
28. 选C。作者在困难时突然想起了一个人,根据下文“I asked him if I could have my next t wo months’ salary in advance”可以知道作者想预支薪水,所以这个人应该是作者的老板。
30. 选A。
34. 选A。
“It’s well worth+名词”是固定搭配,意为“做……
