Cihai (Sea of words) is one of China’s most popular dictionaries. Like an encyclopedia(百科全书), it covers many fields such as science, philosophy, history and so on. The 1999 edition of the dictionary had 19,485 Chinese characters and 122,836 vocabulary entries(词目), including “Deng Xiaoping Theory” and “Internet”.
