中共中央政治局9月18日召开会议，研究拟提请党的十八届七中全会讨论的十八届中央委员会向中国共产党第十九次全国代表大会的报告稿、《中国共产党章程（修正案）》稿、十八届中央纪律检查委员会向中国共产党第十九次全国代表大会的工作报告稿，审议《关于五年来中央政治局贯彻执行中央八项规定并以此带动全党加强作风建设情况的报告》。

     会议决定，党的十九大根据新形势新任务对党章进行适当修改，要把党的十九大报告确立的重大理论观点和重大战略思想写入党章。

     The Communist Party of China is expected to amend its constitution at the upcoming 19th CPC National Congress next month by adding key theoretical viewpoints and strategic thoughts.

     下月召开的党的十九大将对党章进行修改，把重大理论观点和重大战略思想写入党章。

     会议认为，党章（the Party Constitution）是党的总章程，对坚持党的领导、加强党的建设具有根本性的规范和指导作用（serving as principal regulation and guidance in adhering to the Party's leadership and strengthening Party building）。党的十九大根据新形势新任务对党章进行适当修改，有利于全党更好学习党章、遵守党章、贯彻党章、维护党章，更好把中国特色社会主义伟大事业和党的建设新的伟大工程推向前进（promote the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics and Party building）。

     要把党的十九大报告确立的重大理论观点和重大战略思想写入党章，使党章充分体现马克思主义中国化最新成果，充分体现党的十八大以来党中央提出的治国理政新理念新思想新战略，充分体现坚持和加强党的领导、全面从严治党的新鲜经验，把我们党建设得更加朝气蓬勃、坚强有力，始终保持党同人民群众的血肉联系。

     The amendment must include the key theories and strategic thought. The amended constitution must fully represent the latest sinicization of Marxism, new governance concepts, thought and strategies of the CPC Central Committee since the 18th CPC National Congress, as well as new experience in adhering to and strengthening Party leadership and in strict Party governance. The amendment should make the CPC more vigorous, stronger and enable it to keep a close connection with the people.
